Is it free to join gobyRIDE?

Yes it is! Signing up for gobyRIDE is free.

The gobyRIDE administration fee for in-app payments is simply 15% to cover credit card fees and administration. This 15% will automatically be charged upon trip completion when in-app payments are being used. The driver will receive their desired per seat payment, less 15%. A minimum of $0.35 administration fee is charged.

There are no fees for gobyRIDE passengers except for the fee they pay for the rides they participate in.

What are the differences between gobyRIDE & Uber?

There are very significant differences between gobyRIDE and Uber.

True ridesharing: gobyRIDE is a true ridesharing community where the system matches people based on proximity to origin, destination and travel route, on a trip that will be taken by the driver regardless of whether or not there are passengers. gobyRIDE is all about sharing a ride and sharing the actual costs of that ride. With gobyRIDE costs are shared and the driver makes no profit. Uber is an online taxi hailing company, where the driver is driving as a profit-making business.

No contracted drivers: gobyRIDE drivers are people like yourselves making a trip. gobyRIDE does not hire drivers as employees or contractors.

gobyRIDE Points and Rewards: gobyRIDE offers automatic points for creating a gobyRIDE account, posting a trip, posting a ride request, completing a trip using in-app payments, rating the driver, rating passengers and social media sharing. These points can be used to enter contests for great rewards!

Do I sign up as a driver or a passenger?

Creating an account with gobyRIDE is easy.

Simply download the gobyRIDE app and register as a new user.

Once you’re registered simply select the I’m a Driver or I’m a Passenger tab to start posting trips or searching.

Can I sign up without a cell phone number?

Yes you can, but we highly recommend that you link your number to your account. All communications are in-app so your privacy is protected, however the in-app system needs to send you notifications and the best way to reach you is usually via your mobile device.

Is my personal data safe and private?

How do I earn rewards?

We know you’re busy, so the system automatically awards you points for in-app actions.

Points are earned as follows:

How do I redeem my points for rewards?

You can use your points to enter contests for the rewards you want.

Our rewards are continually expanding so keep watching as more rewards are available for you to redeem. All rewards will be delivered electronically to the email address used for account creation.

How do I pay for my ride?

gobyRIDE passengers pay by credit card. Your credit card information is a component of your sign up profile and your account will be charged 3 days prior to a booked trip. gobyRIDE uses a third party credit card processing provider, Stripe, for all transactions. Your information is safe and secure.

How do I receive payment from my passengers?

gobyRIDE drivers must have an existing Stripe account. If not, gobyRIDE can automatically set up a Stripe account for you. Payments from passengers will automatically be deposited into your Stripe account 3 days after a completed trip when in-app payments are used. The amount deposited will be the seat cost, less a 15% administration fee. A minimum administration fee of $0.35 applies in all cases.

How quickly do I receive my payments?

gobyRIDE passenger’s credit cards are charged 3 days prior to the scheduled trip departure time. If you wish to cancel, please do so 24 hours prior to the scheduled trip departure to avoid cancellation penalties. Cancellation penalty is cancelled within 24 hours of trip departure is 25% of the seat cost. Passengers will also be scored on trip cancellation rates.

gobyRIDE drivers will receive payment 3 days (72 hours) after the successful trip completion. If you wish to cancel, please do so 24 hours prior to the scheduled trip departure to avoid cancellation penalties. Cancellation penalty is cancelled within 24 hours of trip departure is 25% of the seat cost. The 25% fee will be deducted on the next trip completed by the Driver. The Driver will also be scored on trip cancellation rates.

Should there be a payment dispute, payment will be delayed.

How do I know I have a confirmed booked seat?

On the gobyRIDE dashboard, My Bookings will show your reserved trips. You will also receive notifications by text, email informing you that you have a confirmed reserved seat.

How do drivers search for ride requests?

Under the I’m a Driver tab, simply tap on the Find Passengers button.

How do passengers search for drivers?

Under the I’m a Passenger tab, simply tap on the Find Drivers button.

If you can’t find any drivers for your trip, Post a Ride Request so drivers can search for you!

What if I want to cancel my ride?

If you wish to cancel, please do so 24 hours prior to your scheduled departure time to avoid penalties. If you cancel within 24 hours of your scheduled departure time, a 25% cancellation fee will be applied and is non-refundable. If a driver cancels within 24 hours of the scheduled departure time, the 25% cancellation fee will be applied on the next booked trip.

A trip cancellation rating will be applied to your account. A low rating will lower your chances of sharing a ride. Repeated cancellations may result in your account suspension.

What if I wish to be refunded for my cancelled ride?

If a trip is cancelled prior to 24 hours before the scheduled trip, passengers will not be charged for the ride.

If you cancel within 24 hours of your scheduled departure time, a 25% cancellation fee will be applied and is non-refundable. If a driver cancels within 24 hours of the scheduled departure time, the 25% cancellation fee will be applied on the next booked trip.
